hell’s inferno salsa

brief: Woodside House Farms, a collective of small farmers, sought a bold design for their “Hell’s Inferno Salsa” line. They requested a character-driven approach that conveys the extreme heat of the salsas, with unique heat call-outs in the design and no vegetables on the label, aiming to differentiate from ingredient focused designs of competitors.

client: woodside house farms

solution: With a name like HELL’S INFERNO”, it was a no-brainer to make the devil himself part of the logo. Giving him a playful, retro ‘50s vibe is the attempt to invite you to try the salsa. Since ‘there was nothing mild about it’ - the tagline they loved! - fire was another given but subdued so not to overwhelm the design. More traditional depictions of sinister satans were used to indicate each heat level in the line.
